In today's world of Hip Hop, they come a dime a dozen. The genre is so saturated that they seem somewhat disposable. So when i stumbled upon the group Brown Bag AllStars, that truly stuck out among the masses, I was very impressed. Bringing to the table an energetic stage performance not seen since, dare I say, the Golden Age of Hip Hop, it's clear these guys could cure even the most severe case of A.D.D. (or perhaps enhance it lol.) With that said, I felt it was only right for Brown Bag Allstars to be the first interview at iHeartdilla. I got a chance to ask the super group a few questions before they hit the stage at the Highline Ballroom.
*Why do you want to record and release your own music?
(They all were taken back by this question)
The Audible Doctor says, "I can't do anything else. I get bored easily with 9-5 and music is the only thing that holds my attention."
Soul Khan quotes the Wu-tang Clan's, 'It's Yourz', "With root beer thoughts, here's a tennis court for your birthday."
(we all laughed)
*Do you write your own songs?
"Yes, ofcourse and rappers should never have a ghostwriter unless they have the most amazing voice like Snoop Dogg."
*Who are your musical influences?
*Who are your musical influences?

Quality and energy. Fun without being corney. And Rawkus without being a dead end label (hahaha)

J-57 says, "Do viable indie hip hop across the country like L.A. and Europe and being able to pay rent and debt off music!"

"Yes, we won't disclose the names. The one's we do know are the ones that required us to demonstrate our work. We all work at FATBEATS it does help us but, we have always earned what we've put out. It also, forces us to be dope!"
*So far what has been the best live performance experience you've had?
Soul Khan says, "Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival '09 because, we rocked for thousands of people but, it won't be our peak!"
*How do you rate your live performance ability on a scale of 1-10? (10 being the highest)
49!

*What has been your biggest challenge?
(they all answered this) "Agreeing on track titles, schedules, not living off of rap. Motivation is what keeps us going."
*Do you have any advice for other aspiring artists?
"Work with us. Have work ethic, and remember you can always do better!"
*Any last words?
"We are honored to be the first interview for iHEARTdilla!"
iHEARTdilla had the chance to sit with these guys to discuss how their more than just rappers. How the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival was hit, and how working at a record store has done wonders for their career.
Thank you guys so much for giving me the opportunity to steal away some time before your set! I wish you all the best of luck! I'm sure I'll be seeing you around!
